Types of Limestone
Berks Soil & Stone offers a variety of limestone types to suit different construction and landscaping needs, including 2A Modified for compactable base material, 2B Clean for drainage, and #3 Clean for larger aggregate applications. We also supply Screenings for fine grading, 1B Clean for precision work, and #4 Clean for heavier-duty drainage and erosion control solutions.
Screenings
A finely crushed stone dust material that is commonly used for topping a paver base, pipe beddings, electric trenches, and wire bearings.
1B Clean
1/2″ size limestone that is clean. Great for pathways and pipe beddings.
2A Modified
A combination of crushed grey stone and stone dust. Makes for a great base because it compacts very well. Often used for filling in driveway holes or as a paver base.
2B Clean
A crushed ¾-1″ stone that does not compact. Commonly used for under concrete, driveways, and around drainage pipe. Also a good base for under buildings, sheds, and decks.
#3 Clean
Has a top size of 3″. Bulk material that is good for drainage solutions.
#4 Clean
Has a top size of 4″. Also known as tire scrubbers for construction entrances.
